Congratulations to Schepartz Lab alum Deepto Mozumdar who just won a NIH Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00). The K99/R00 award is a two-phase grant for promising postdoctoral scientists that is designed to facilitate the transition from mentored research to independent, tenure-track faculty positions. Deepto is currently a postdoc at UCSF, working with the Bondy-Denomy and Agard labs to study the molecular underpinnings of a potent anti-immune mechanism used by jumbo-phages to thwart bacterial defenses.
